I'm sure you've heard the saying "no man is an island" and life experiences will teach you that it's true; none of us can do life alone. Inside all of us is the desire to love and be loved. We were created with this desire by design – it is the desire and need for relationship. No matter how frustrated, tired, or angry you get, you need healthy relationships in your life.
There are three key relationships that we must develop to live as God intended – healthy, whole, and satisfied. These three key relationships include our personal relationship with God, our relationship with our family, and our relationship with the world around us. Healthy relationships don’t just happen though, they must be intentionally developed and the time you devote to developing each of these relationships will directly impact your quality of life. Engage Ministries is committed to helping you develop these healthy relationships through our church services, outreach activities and discipleship programs.
Engage with us and experience life at it's fullest!
No one has a better chance to change the world than you do. No one is more favored by God, loved by God, or needed by God. We are well past the point in history where God’s people can afford to sit idly by while the world slips further into darkness. While we are not to be “of this world” we are still “in this world” and we have the responsibility to be the light and salt; to speak peace, show love, and glorify God in word and deed. It is time to be and do what God has called you for; draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. I encourage you to become engaged today.
- Pastor Joe Young
The most important relationship you will ever develop is with God. It is through this relationship that we connect HIs eternal plan with our eternal purpose. This relationship brings the love, peace, joy, and acceptance that we crave but cannot truly find apart from God. It also brings real purpose into our lives. As we mature in Christ, we begin to understand that we are part of a master plan to share God's love with the world.
God's greatest desire is to know you and be known by you. He's more concerned about the relationship you have with Him than the religious traditions and practices that you follow. God has given each of us, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, an open invitation to get to know Him. Knowing God is much more than just knowing about God; it is intentionally developing a relationship of trust, dependence, and love that allows you to experience the plan and promises that He has made available to you.
The second relationship given to us to thrive in is with our family. God created family as the second most important relationship when He created and joined Adam and Eve together. Family became the first earthly institution. As they obeyed God’s direction to “be fruitful and multiply” they were to use the authority given to them to “govern” and “reign” over the world around them. God create the family relationship to have dominion, authority, and purpose.
Today, our nation is in crisis because the relationship of family has not been honored and maintained; our nation is in crisis because families are in crisis. As we begin to develop our family relationships correctly, with respect, love, and responsibility we will begin to experience the promise of blessing that God ordained through our familiy relationships.
The correct development of the first two relationships allows us to successfully develop the third, our relationship with the world around us. Our relationship with God gives us the knowledge, strength, and courage to reflect His glory and our family relationship gives us the support and structure for God’s blessing to flow into the world. We see God establish this principle through the life of Abraham. God told Abraham, “I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
(Genesis 12:2-3)
We are called to be salt that flavors the culure around us and light that leads the lost and hurting to hope and healing found only in Christ. We do this by engaging our society and shaping our culture; we do this by following Jesus' example to love unconditionally, share truth without compromise, and serve others passionately. We can only do this as the unified Body of Christ.
